Nîmes
: Roman city well knowned for its arenas and "ferias", and also "la
maison carrée", the gardens of la Fontaine and the covered market created
by Philip Stark. The nearby town of Arles is also well worth a
visit for its arenas ant antique theatre.
Montpellier : Coup
de coeur ! (lets fall in love !) Very lively university town, the
historical center of the city is pedestrian. It counts many mansions from
the 17th century, narrow paved streets, and charming shops, places and
squares around the "Place de la Comedie", the opera and the triumphal
arch.
Villages with plenty of
character : Nearby Euzet, the medieval village of Vezenobres is the
capital of the fig. Overlooking the surrounding vineyards, there are many
other medieval villages where to relax and experience the south french
"art de vivre" : Lussan, Barjac, Laudun, Sauve, Castillon du Gard...
